Ceramic-lined wear-resistant pipe & fittings refer to metal pipes or fittings with a layer of high-hardness, highly wear-resistant ceramic material applied to the inner wall to enhance their wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and high-temperature performance. These pipes are widely used in industrial pipeline systems for transporting highly abrasive and corrosive media.

Benefits of Ceramic Lined Pipe
Enhanced durability
Ceramic-lined pipes are engineered to withstand the harshest conditions. The ceramic lining is a barrier between the transported material and the pipe's inner surface, protecting it from abrasion and corrosion. The ceramic material used in the lining is tough and has exceptional wear resistance properties, making it highly durable even in high-velocity and high-pressure applications. By choosing ceramic-lined piping, you can significantly extend the service life of your pipes, reducing maintenance costs and downtime.
Improved flow efficiency
The smooth surface of the ceramic lining in these pipes offers superior flow efficiency compared to traditional metal pipes. The reduced friction and resistance allow for better material flow, improving system performance. With ceramic-lined pipes, you can minimise pressure drops and ensure a consistent and uninterrupted flow of materials. This enhanced flow efficiency can optimise your operational processes and increase overall productivity.
Excellent corrosion resistance
Chemical corrosion is a major concern in many industries. Metal pipes can be susceptible to corrosion, leading to leaks, contamination, and system failures. Ceramic-lined pipes provide excellent resistance to chemical attacks. The ceramic lining acts as a protective barrier, preventing corrosive substances from directly contacting the metal pipe. This corrosion resistance is particularly advantageous in industries like mining, chemical processing, power generation, and oil and gas, where aggressive materials are commonly handled.
Versatility and customisation
Ceramic lined pipes are available in various sizes, shapes, and configurations to suit different applications. Whether you require straight pipes, elbows, tees, reducers, or other fittings, ceramic-lined options can be tailored to meet your specific requirements. The versatility of ceramic-lined piping systems allows for easy integration into existing infrastructure without major modifications. Furthermore, the ceramic lining can be customised to provide varying degrees of protection, depending on the specific needs of your industry.
Four Key Factors of Ceramic-Lined Wear-Resistant Pipe

Material Selection
High-hardness, highly wear-resistant ceramic materials such as alumina, silicon carbide, and zirconia are used.
The choice of material directly affects the wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and high-temperature performance of the pipe.

Lining Process
Common processes include tile lining, integral casting, centrifugal casting, and bonded lining.
Different processes impact the thickness, adhesion strength, and service life of the lining.

Connection Method
Common connection methods include flange connection, clamp connection, and welding connection.
Selecting the appropriate connection method ensures system stability and sealing performance.

Size and Thickness
The size of the pipe (such as diameter and length) and the thickness of the ceramic layer (typically 10-20mm) should be customized according to specific application requirements.
Determining the proper thickness can enhance wear resistance while maintaining adequate strength.
Mining and mineral processing
Ceramic-lined pipes are widely used in the mining industry for transporting abrasive slurries and materials such as coal, copper, gold, and iron ore. They can withstand the high levels of abrasion and erosion encountered in these operations.
Power generation
In power plants, especially in coal-fired power stations, ceramic-lined pipes are used to transport coal ash slurry, limestone slurry for flue gas desulfurization, and other abrasive materials in the process.
Chemical processing
Ceramic-lined pipes are suitable for handling corrosive chemicals and abrasive materials in chemical processing industries. They help prevent corrosion and extend the lifespan of the pipes.
Pulp and paper industry
In the pulp and paper industry, ceramic-lined pipes are used for transporting abrasive slurries containing wood chips, chemicals, and other materials involved in the paper production process.
Steel and Metallurgy
In steel mills and metallurgical applications, ceramic-lined pipes are used to transport abrasive materials such as iron ore, coal, and slag.
Ash handling
Ceramic-lined pipes are commonly employed in ash handling systems of industries like cement manufacturing, where they transport abrasive materials like fly ash and bottom ash from combustion processes.
Dredging
In dredging operations, where abrasive materials like sand and gravel need to be transported, ceramic-lined pipes are used to extend the life of the piping system.
Oil and gas industry
In the oil and gas sector, ceramic-lined pipes can be used for transporting abrasive drilling muds and slurries, as well as in applications involving the transportation of produced water and chemicals.
Food and beverage
In food processing, where corrosive substances are used or abrasive materials are present, ceramic-lined pipes can help maintain the integrity of the piping system and ensure product purity.
Wastewater treatment
Ceramic-lined pipes are used in wastewater treatment plants to transport sludge and abrasive materials. They resist corrosion and wear, ensuring the longevity of the pipes.
Transportation of abrasive liquids
Any application that involves the transportation of abrasive liquids, such as slurries and abrasive chemicals, can benefit from ceramic-lined pipes.
How to Maintain Ceramic Lined Pipe
Wear resistant ceramics elbow bend pipe, pipe sleeve is used as composite ceramics pipe lined steel , wildly used in power plant boiler milling system piping. When welding it, you should pay attention to these relevant standards
To prevent defects such as pores and cracks, the rust, scale, oil and debris on the sides of the weld bevel must be removed and kept clean and dry before welding.
Titanium calcium type should be dried at 150 ° C for 1 hour, low hydrogen type should be dried at 200-250 ° C for 1 hour.
It can't be heated repeatedly. Repeatedly heated will decompose the carbide, then decrease the corrosion resistance and the mechanical function, and the post-weld hardenability will be increased, then it’ll be easier to occur crack.
When use low-hydrogen electrode to weld, it is necessary to perform preheating above 300 °C and slow cooling at 700 °C after welding. If the weldment can't be post-weld heat treated, you should use a chrome-nickel stainless steel electrode as weldmen instead of low-hydrogen electrode.
The end of the weld should be filled. For multi-pass welding, the previous weld slag should be removed and the inter-layer temperature of the weld should be measured and recorded before the next weld. And the Interlayer temperature should be controlled at 100~250°C.
